Two top food brands are finally making gluten-free versions of their most iconic products. You'll soon be able to sink your teeth into Gluten Free Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and Oreos, and that's great news for anyone who suffers from celiac disease and gluten intolerance or sensitivities.

Major retailers across the country have already rolled out the gluten-free mac and cheese, while the Gluten Free Oreos Cookies will debut in January 2021. When it comes to nutrition, an original pack of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is nearly identical to the new gluten-free variety. The main difference is the amount of protein. Most of Kraft's iconic blue box products pack 9 grams of protein into a single serving, whereas the gluten-free take has 7 grams of protein. The reimagined version of this childhood classic has a pasta base made from a blend of corn and brown rice flour.

While nutrition information for the new Oreos has not yet been publicly released, a representative for Nabisco told Eat This, Not That! that all of the gluten-free cookies will have GFCO certification, which will be clearly marked on the packaging. As always, the beloved chocolate sandwich cookies will be made with real cocoa.

Word of Oreo going gluten-free is eliciting a lot of fanfare on social media. The tweet announcing the news already has more than 4,000 likes. One Massachusetts fan named Austin cheered on the new cookies as 'another reason why we all love Oreos!'

If you’re gluten-free and have been missing some of your favorite comfort foods since you eliminated them from your diet, we have some good news. A classic childhood (and adulthood!) favorite is now available in a gluten-free version for the first time ever: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese!

Kraft’s new Gluten Free Mac & Cheese is made with brown rice and corn pasta, but the company says it is just as smooth and cheesy as the original. Just like the original, it comes in a 6-ounce box with a packet of powdered cheese sauce. Each serving has 260 calories and six grams of protein. You can find it in select stores nationwide, including Target, for around $2.49 a box.

While this is the first time Kraft has made a gluten-free version of their macaroni and cheese, there are a few other brands you can find in stores nationwide as well.

The brand Banza has a variety of boxed flavors made with chickpea pasta and Annie’s has a handful of gluten-free macaroni and cheese flavors, including pasta made with quinoa and rice flour or red lentils.

While not technically boxed pasta, the brand Udi’s makes a frozen gluten-free macaroni and cheese, as does Amy’s, which is also dairy-free. The brand Evol also makes a few different kinds of frozen gluten-free macaroni and cheese, including smoked gouda.

You can also make your own gluten-free macaroni and cheese, as you can buy plain gluten-free macaroni from a variety of stores and online retailers like Amazon.

You can then follow any recipe you’d like, as long as the other ingredients are also gluten-free. This recipe from Mama Knows Gluten Free also calls for evaporated milk, powdered dry mustard and lots of cheese, including mild or sharp cheddar, parmesan and a block of Velveeta.
